Heyyy Fam 👋🏽

I guess this week’s newsletter requires a bit of introduction..? Hi, hey, whaddup, I’m Kori Doran (don’t judge, a website update is sooo overdue!). I recently joined the awesome Cre8tor Hub team. And now I get to hang out in your inbox each week spilling the dirt, sharing the goods, and putting you on to the latest. Let’s ride.

TikTok said time is up! Mess around and find out…

New updates to the app include increased enforcement against penalty violators in the form of a strike system and a (well-overdue) test feature for both creators and end-users. The strike system works like this: If your content is removed, #strike, if you’re violating policy in comments or TikTok LIVE (ie: bullying, harassment, racism..?), #strike.

Currently, the threshold of strikes will depend on the severity of the context, but the company’s made it clear it will issue permanent bans for severe violations. Accumulated strikes expire after 90 days and will be trackable by creators. The test feature will include informing creators which videos are eligible for recommendation to users’ For You feeds, as well as providing end-users an additional ‘Refresh’ button to receive updated For You feed content. TLDR: TikTok said I’m not one of your lil’ friends, don’t play with me.

#Money News 🤑

What’s the best way for creators to maximize $$ and increase subscribers with YT Shorts? Are they here to stay? If so, what effect will this have on creators who monetize through long-form videos? YouTube content creator legends, Colin and Samir interviewed Youtube employees to get the facts.’

Trigger Fingers Turn to Twitter FIGURES…? To continue a subject we touched on last week, Darth Vader nephew on his Auntie Ida side, a.k.a. Elon Musk, says that Twitter will begin to share revenue with creators who are Twitter Blue Verified. ‘Legacy’ verified marks will soon disappear into the ether, and creators will need to start coughing up that $8/mo. It’s still unclear what percentage of ad revenue will go to creators, how Twitter will pay us, and if there are any vetting processes (do you only need Twitter Blue?). No worries, we’ll keep an eye out for new info for you...
